Grilled Margherita Sandwiches

Transform your favorite Margherita pizza into a delicious grilled sandwich Fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil are sandwiched between thick slices of bread, creating a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of thick bread
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat

Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil

On the unoiled side of 2 bread slices, layer tomato slices, mozzarella slices, and basil leaves

Season with salt and pepper

Top with the remaining bread slices, oiled side up

Place sandwiches on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted

Remove from grill, slice if desired, and serve hot
